New Article on the Garden

Taking care of something is always a great way to teach your children a lot of valuable things in life. If you're not too big on having pets, though, there are alternatives to teaching your kid how to take care of a living creature. Having a vegetable patch is one of those techniques.
If you have even just a small unoccupied space in your lawn or backyard, you can start building a teeny garden with your young one. It's up to you what kind of plants to grow, although vegetables would be the most ideal for a number of reasons.

Marigolds

I just read that marigold flowers are a mosquito deterrent.

I've just been attacked in my garden by tiny mosquitos and am now determined to get rid of these pests.  My backyard pool is nearby this garden so it is a 'mozzy haven'.  At the top end of the pool is another garden with marigold flowers (terribly handy in this situation of mine). 

I now plan to transplant some of the marigold to the bottom end of the pool in the garden where the mozzy's are feasting away.  I'm not sure if this is going to work or if the marigold will survive the migration but i'm going to try.
