Garlic

I think its time I put some garlic in the vege patch.  I've just come down with the flu and for some reason i'm out of fresh garlic.  I usually roast this up and it cures the flu straight away.  So without any garlic in the house i'm now suffering with a full blown flu.  According to google, all I have to do is put a clove in a pot and watch it grow.

In The Garden

Well the zucchini's are really coming along now.  I've just trimmed back all their leaves to let in some sunshine and the flowers are blooming big time.  Won't be long before we are enjoying all that fruit.  Amazing what a bit of rain can do in the spring.

Swim Time

Learning how to Swim

Learning how to swim should be taught right after we learn how to walk. Playing in water is one of best ways to enjoy life. Nobody takes walking or running lessons because we learn on our own. Swimming does take practice and its well worth it. There are plenty of places that offer swimming lessons because learning water safety is very important. Since kids love to play in the water, and we introduce them to water at an early age with baths and plastic swimming pools in the backyard, its just seems logical that we should teach them how to swim in a larger pool or even a lake or ocean.

Fun in the Sun

type=textWhen people get older they don't think about taking lessons to learn how to swim, if they don't already know, because it might seem embarrassing, but it shouldn't, everybody needs to know how to swim. Water safety is taught at a very early age because kids are taking in information at a faster rate. Learning about how to swim and what it takes to be a good swimmer is very important. There are many ways to teach your child how to swim if you have a pool, and since you can teach them at a pace that will help them enjoy the process its much more fun. Having a healthy understanding of water is important when you are learning how to swim.
There are many devices you can use to help teach a person how to swim. Since swimming is learning how to stay afloat you can use arm floaters, they work best for small children and even life jackets can help them keep their heads above water. Once they learn how to kick their legs and move around the pool they will have the basic understanding of swimming. Many kids who are involved with school will be invited to swim parties or find themselves with summers that involve pool activities. Learning how to swim can be the difference between a vacation and one they will never forget.
The best way to teach somebody how to swim is to get them comfortable with water. Kids may have a fear of water because many times they cannot touch and that creates fear. Allow them to submerge so they can feel what its like to float and how they can keep themselves afloat. Children and adults can minimize that fear by becoming comfortable with the water level, this helps to gain confidence to venture into the deeper part of a pool. Floatation devises can be worn for any age; it helps a person stay above the water surface so they stay in control while swimming. To help minimize irritation to their eyes you can have them wear swim goggles. Swim caps can be used to keep their heads warm since some swimming pools are cool when you first enter them.
Learning how to swim in a pool is ideal because they can see the bottom of the pool and many pools are marked with depth indicators. Kiddie pools are often separate from larger pools so that kids can learn how to swim without worrying about older kids or adults. A child will let you know when they are ready to remove their floatation devices. It will be just as scary for you when they do. If you are going to teach a child how to swim in a public pool make sure that a life guard is on duty. They can help with tips about water safety and will even help to keep an eye on your little ones who are learning.
Eventually somebody will always find themselves around water. Since it covers most of the earth the chances of getting in water are very high. For those who learn how to swim at an early age it is much easier to adapt to larger bodies of water such as a lake or ocean. After learning how to swim efficiently a person should also learn CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) so they can help other people around water. Learning how to swim can open up a new world. There are swim teams you can join and after watching the previous Olympics where Michael Phelps won eight gold medals for swimming there has been a rise in the sports popularity. Swimming is also a relaxing activity, most people who go on vacation head to someplace that has water. Hotels have swimming pools so learning how to swim will help you to have a more enjoyable time on vacation.
Whenever somebody does participate in water sports such as water skiing or riding on a watercraft many safety measures are taken. Life jackets are always worn and safety protocol is practiced. Since swimming has always been considered a past time during summer everybody should learn how to swim. When learning how to swim there is a trust factor involved for each person learning. If you do take swim lessons make sure the instructor is qualified and that you enjoy learning from them.
Swimming is one of the best exercises; it requires you to use your arms to pull you along the water. You have to learn correct breathing and water aerobics are a great way to strengthen your whole body. Swimming is considered an aquatic sport and even if you never do compete in a race its still fun to get in the pool and cool off on a hot day. Those who do learn how to swim at a later age can still learn how to enjoy themselves while experiencing a new world under water.
Pool safety is very important if you own an outdoor pool. There are responsibilities for pool owners and those who operate a swimming pool. Since swimming is not a natural act for everybody those that need to learn should. Allowing a person to learn how to swim will give them confidence around water and give them a part of life that many people enjoy all year round. Swimming is fun and enjoyable if you know how, it gives you fun opportunities beyond the swimming pool.

Why Everyone Needs a Scooter

Considered in some quarters as one of the best kept secrets on commuting in the Western hemisphere, scooters are a popular means of transport in a number of countries in the South East and Far East Asia.  Scooters are indeed great tools for travel but are also fun.  When compared to automobiles and motorcycles, scooters are cheap and in the case of mechanical problems, are easily repaired.  One of their key advantages is their compact design and size that makes them portable and easy to park or store.  The scooter is very easy to learn and some types of scooters do not require one to have a driving license in order to drive.

Toys Toys and more Toys

Many people tend to brush toys off as simply something that keeps a kid occupied while the parents tend to housework and the preparation of meals. However, toys are so much more than that. They always have been and they always will be. The more and more you look into this, the clearer it will be for you to see. Even the simplest of toys can be educational. You could even take something as fun as scooters and learn a lot from it. It is still important though to make sure that you are picking the right toys for your child.

Plovers

The plovers are at it again. What's a plover? It's a swooping bird, like a magpie. All i can say is carry a big stick and wear a stack hat. I didn't understand until i made my nephew take me to see them.

They were a few doors down the road in a vacant block, about 5 or 6 of them just plodding around in the grass. I of course thought nothing of it and told my 10 year old nephew to go closer. He didn't want to but he did it just to show his Aunty (who was by the way, on the other side of the road) exactly what these birds were capable of. Well in a matter of seconds my nephew took off in the fastest pace i think he's ever done and then i saw why....he was being chased by this low flying swooping Plover!!! It was scary and funny all at the same time. Couldn't believe it. I'm staying away from Plovers big time!
